About the Author

Barb McGillivray

Barb McGillivray is a strong advocate for people with disabilities.  Believing that awareness is the first step towards understanding, she wrote this book about her oldest son Nathan who was born 21 years ago with several health risks and challenges.  He is now severely disabled and confined to a wheelchair.

Through it all, he has been her inspiration and the one person who made her realize there needed to be more literature about children with disabilities.

During the writing of "If Only I Could Fly," she decided to try the self-publishing route.  Even though the learning curve was a very steep one, she found the process to be interesting and rewarding.

Her second book, which she has already written about her two younger sons, is the next adventure she would like to publish.  Readers can look forward to more tales from this author as her daughter has asked Mom to create a story about her too.

In Barb's spare time, she can be found chasing cows around the farm and spending time with her family.  She lives in Red Deer, Alberta, Canada.
